Josh Turner will celebrate his musical heroes on his upcoming album, Country State of Mind, which will be released on Aug. 21.
The 12-song collection features popular tunes and deep cuts from many of Joshās influences, including Randy Travis (āForever and Ever, Amenā), John Anderson (āIāve Got It Madeā), Johnny Cash (āThe Caretakerā), Vern Gosdin (āI Can Tell By the Way You Danceā), Hank Williams (āAlone and Foresakenā) and more.
āIāve always said that any song you hear coming from my voice, youāre going to hear bits and pieces of those [aforementioned] five guys,ā says Josh. āThey taught me how to be Josh Turner.ā
In addition, a number of artists contributed vocals on the new album, including Kris Kristofferson (āWhy Meā), Chris Janson (āCountry State of Mindā), Maddie & Tae (āDesperatelyā), Runaway June (āYou Donāt Seem to Miss Meā), Randy Travis (āForever and Ever, Amenā), John Anderson (āIāve Got It Madeā) and Allison Moorer (āAlone and Foresakenā).
Randyās contribution marks his first recording session since his stroke in 2013.
āRandy has always been my hero,ā says Josh. āHe was the reason I wanted to become a country singer. Heās an inspiring figure, not just to me but to a lot of people, so to have him sing on this record is pretty special.ā
